The Goldenits Heideboden Zweigelt 2022 is a complex, full-bodied Zweigelt red wine from Burgenland that impresses with its depth, fruitiness and soft tannins. With an alcohol content of 13.5 % vol., this wine is a characterful representation of its origin: Heideboden, one of the best-known vineyards around Gols, near Lake Neusiedl. The vines grow on sandy black earth soils with a medium to high proportion of stones, as well as classic gravelly sites – ideal conditions for structure, minerality and ageing potential.

The grapes were harvested by hand between 26 and 29 September 2023. Following careful selection, a 20-day maceration period and temperature-controlled fermentation took place to extract the fruit and colour as effectively as possible. The wine was matured in a combination of used barriques and large wooden casks, lending it complexity and elegance without masking the variety’s characteristic fruitiness. The wine was bottled on 30 November 2023 – ready for immediate enjoyment or a few years’ ageing in the bottle.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Goldenits Heideboden Zweigelt 2022 displays a rich ruby-garnet colour with violet highlights. On the nose, dark wild cherries dominate, underpinned by delicate hints of nougat and ripe fruit. On the palate, a juicy, interwoven cherry flavour unfolds, accompanied by supple tannins, delicate spice and a round, harmonious finish. A wine that combines power and finesse in equal measure.

This Zweigelt from Burgenland is an ideal accompaniment to dark, hearty meats, game dishes, grilled beef or savoury cheese specialities.
