The Goldenits Heideboden Zweigelt 2022 is a multi-layered, powerful Zweigelt red wine from Burgenland that impresses with its depth, fruit and soft tannins. With an alcohol content of 13.5% vol., this wine is a characterful representative of its origin: Heideboden, one of the best-known vineyards around Gols, near Lake Neusiedl. The vines grow on sandy black earth soils with a medium to high stone content as well as classic gravel sites - ideal conditions for structure, minerality and ripening potential.

The grapes were harvested by hand between 26 and 29 September 2023, followed by a 20-day maceration period and temperature-controlled fermentation to extract the best possible fruit and colour. The wine was matured in a combination of used barrique barrels and large wooden barrels, which gives the wine complexity and elegance without masking the varietal fruit. The wine was bottled on 30 November 2023 - ready for immediate enjoyment or a few years of bottle ageing.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Goldenits Heideboden Zweigelt 2022 is a rich ruby-garnet colour with violet reflections. Dark wild cherries dominate the nose, underpinned by delicate hints of nougat and ripe fruit. A juicy, interwoven cherry fruit unfolds on the palate, accompanied by supple tannins, delicate spice and a round, harmonious finish. A wine with power and finesse in equal measure.

This Zweigelt from Burgenland is an ideal accompaniment to dark, hearty meat, game dishes, grilled beef or savoury cheese specialities. It also shows its culinary versatility with braised dishes, lamb or roasted root vegetables. Serve it at the optimum drinking temperature of 16 °C to fully emphasise its fruit, structure and depth.
