With *The Arran DUERO DISCOVERY*, the distillery in Lochranza on the Isle of Arran presents the third edition of its exclusive Signature Series. This 12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky impresses with its depth, individuality and cask-influenced aroma. Bottled as Batch No. 18-RDD-01-48, it comes from Warehouse #4 in Lochranza itself, where it was able to mature under ideal conditions. It was bottled in spring 2025 – naturally without chill filtration and without the addition of colouring agents, to preserve the natural purity and structure of this whisky.

Maturation began in bourbon casks, followed by a finishing period in first-fill Spanish red wine casks, which lends the whisky its fruity depth and elegant spiciness. At 50% ABV, the DUERO DISCOVERY is both powerful and well-balanced. This edition is limited to 15,049 bottles worldwide and is presented in a high-quality linen bag – a distinctive collector’s item for connoisseurs and enthusiasts of cask-strength, authentic island whiskies.

Tasting Note

Colour: Copper-coloured with reddish-golden highlights.

Nose: Ripe red berries, dark cherries, sweet oak and a hint of Spanish wine aromas.

Palate: Full-bodied and well-balanced with notes of dark fruit, honey, vanilla, spices and silky tannins from the red wine casks.

Finish: Long-lasting, fruity and spicy with good structure, lingering warmth and a subtle hint of oak.

The Arran DUERO DISCOVERY Single Malt reveals its aromas perfectly when enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to fully bring out the structure of the wine cask maturation. As an elegant dram, it is ideal for quiet moments or special occasions. Its aromatic depth is perfectly complemented by strong hard cheeses, game dishes with red wine jus, or dark chocolate with red fruits.
