Val de Rance Cru Breton Cidre Doux is a mild, traditional apple cider from Brittany which, with an alcohol content of just 2 % by volume, is one of the lightest of its kind. Produced by the long-established co-operative Les Celliers Associés, this cider is made from carefully selected apple varieties typical of the region and is crafted according to traditional Breton methods. Only fresh apples are used; these are gently pressed, fermented at low temperatures and bottled without any additives or preservatives.

The Cru Breton Doux is a prime example of the sweeter style of French ciders, which is particularly prized in Brittany. The low alcohol content is achieved by halting fermentation early, thereby retaining a high proportion of the natural fruit sweetness. This cider is therefore not only particularly aromatic and easy to drink, but also an ideal drink for anyone who wishes to consciously avoid alcohol or significantly reduce their intake without compromising on flavour.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Cidre Doux appears golden yellow in colour, with a delicate, natural cloudiness and lively effervescence. The nose reveals intense aromas of sweet apples, apple compote, honey and a hint of caramel. On the palate, it is soft, round and juicy, with a delicate sweetness and only subtle acidity, making it particularly approachable and light. The finish is fruity, mild and pleasantly playful.

Best served at 6–8 °C, the Cru Breton Doux is the perfect accompaniment to crêpes, apple tart, brioche, croissants or mild blue cheese. It also reveals its full potential when paired with spicy curries or as an accompaniment to dessert. Thanks to its low alcohol content, it is also an excellent fruity alternative to conventional aperitifs.
