The Glenfarclas 16 Years Old with 46% volume and 0.7 litre content is a particularly rare ageing from the traditional Glenfarclas Distillery in the Scottish Highlands. This 16-year-old bottling matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks made from European oak, which are responsible for the typical Glenfarclas signature: complex sweetness, dried fruit, subtle spice and fine oak notes. The maturation period of 16 years gives this whisky a harmonious combination of the lively freshness of younger vintages and the depth of older bottlings. It is bottled uncoloured and not chill-filtered in order to preserve its natural character unadulterated.

Tasting Note

Colour: Bright amber with golden reflections.

Nose: Harmonious sherry sweetness with sultanas, dried figs, honey, caramel, almonds and a hint of orange peel.

Flavour: Full-bodied, smooth and balanced, with notes of dried fruit, malt, toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg and subtle oak spice.

Finish: Langs and warming with lingering fruit sweetness, fine spice and a hint of dark chocolate.

The Glenfarclas 16 Years Old unfolds particularly well on its own, but can also open up its full flavour with a few drops of water. It is an excellent accompaniment to mature hard cheeses such as Manchego or Comté, dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, fruity desserts such as orange tart or savoury meat dishes such as herb-crusted rack of lamb. Its balanced sherry cask maturation makes it ideal for enjoyable evenings and a highlight at Highland whisky tastings.
