Description
The Glen Turner TRIPLE CASK Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a complex expression that combines the characteristic elegance of Speyside whiskies with a unique maturation process. This single malt is produced at the renowned Glen Moray Distillery in Elgin, which is known for its approachable yet characterful whiskies. Under the Glen Turner brand name, the French group La Martiniquaise distributes these bottlings worldwide, with the Triple Cask standing out as a particularly exciting variation.
As the name suggests, the Glen Turner TRIPLE CASK is matured in three different types of cask. The primary maturation takes place in classic ex-bourbon casks, which impart notes of vanilla, honey and caramel. This is complemented by ageing in sherry casks, which lend the whisky additional depth, fruitiness and spice. The maturation is rounded off by European oak casks, which contribute subtle woody notes and a delicate tannin structure. This combination results in a single malt with a complex bouquet that clearly sets it apart from standard bottlings. With an alcohol content of 40% vol., it is well-balanced, elegant and ideal for both newcomers and connoisseurs.
The Glen Turner TRIPLE CASK is a prime example of modern cask maturation and offers a full-bodied yet harmonious tasting experience.
Tasting Note
Colour: Bright gold with warm highlights.
Nose: Fruity and sweet, with notes of honey, vanilla, raisins and subtle hints of oak.
Palate: Round and well-balanced, characterised by sherry sweetness, malt, light nutty notes and a hint of spice.
Finish: Medium-length, smooth and pleasantly dry with fruity and woody notes.
The Glen Turner TRIPLE CASK is ideal for enjoying neat or with a drop of water to bring out its complex flavours. It pairs excellently with mild to medium-strength cheeses, dark chocolate, dried fruit or nut-based desserts. It also shows itself at its best as an accompaniment to a cosy evening with a medium-strength cigar or as a digestif after a festive meal.
