Description
Description
The Polz Grauer Burgunder Südsteiermark DAC 2022 13% vol. 0.75 l is a white wine full of character that impressively expresses the signature of the traditional Polz winery and the uniqueness of the South Styrian terroir. Grown on soils consisting of shell limestone, clay, sand, limestone marl and slate, this wine combines minerality, elegance and an unmistakable depth. The wine is matured in small used wooden barrels, which gives it a fine structure and additional flavour without masking the typical freshness of the variety.
This Pinot Gris consciously sets itself apart from classic patterns and displays a modern, reduced style with depth and determination. Its fullness is supported by a precise arc of acidity that gives the wine vibrancy and balance. With its clear structure, fine flavour and grip, it is a wine that not only delights connoisseurs, but also curious connoisseurs. It can be drunk until at least 2027 and is therefore also suitable for lovers of mature white wines.
Tasting Note
The Polz Pinot Gris Südsteiermark DAC 2022 has a medium straw yellow colour in the glass. The nose is reduced and profound, with hints of dried herbs, camomile and a fine minerality reminiscent of chalk dust. On the palate, it is purposeful, with a certain fullness, pronounced spiciness and a harmoniously integrated acidity. A Pinot Gris with grip and exceptional character.
Acidity: 5.8 g/l
Residual sugar: 1.1 g/l
This Pinot Gris from Southern Styria is an ideal accompaniment to food and offers an exciting alternative to red wine. It goes perfectly with game dishes, roast veal, boiled beef with breadcrumbs and aromatic mushroom dishes. It also impresses with its depth and structure in combination with autumnal dishes or creamy cheeses. Served at a drinking temperature of 8-10 °C, it unfolds its full potential and emphasises the uniqueness of its terroir.
