Dr Bill, the creative force behind the distillery’s experiments, drew inspiration for this limited edition from the exotic atmosphere of colourful spice markets. His aim was to capture the diversity and intensity of scents and flavours in a whisky that would take the connoisseur on a sensory journey.


‘A Tale of Spices’ was matured in an extraordinary combination of casks: Moroccan red wine casks, newly charred oak casks, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and toasted red wine casks. This four-cask blend delivers an impressive depth and complexity that is unrivalled in the world of whisky. Bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration and in a limited edition, this release is a true collector’s item and, at the same time, an experience for all the senses.

Tasting Note

Colour: Mustard gold.

Nose: Spicy and sweet at the same time, with floral notes of rose, carnation, jasmine and lilac. These are complemented by a variety of exotic spices such as cumin, saffron, nutmeg, ginger, chilli and aniseed, accompanied by soft oak and chestnut. When diluted with water, fruity notes, menthol and a subtle hint of bread dough emerge.

Palate: Explosive on the palate with zesty spices such as ginger, black pepper and mustard seeds, which create an earthy depth. This is followed by a gentle sweetness of mint toffee, Demerara sugar and sugared almonds.

Finish: Long and complex with distinct notes of eucalyptus, cloves, leather and peppermint.

Glenmorangie A Tale of Spices is a whisky best enjoyed neat at room temperature to fully appreciate its exceptional cask composition and the multitude of spicy notes. Adding a few drops of water brings out the subtle fruity and menthol notes even more clearly. Culinary pairings include Oriental dishes, aromatic lamb dishes, spiced chocolate or desserts with cinnamon and honey. It also makes for an impressive experience as a digestif with a fine cigar.
