Planteray Rum BLACK CASK Barbados & Trinidad 40% vol. 0.7 l is a masterfully composed blend that combines the Caribbean rum tradition with French cask-ageing expertise. It originates from two renowned distilleries: Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados and Trinidad Distillers Ltd. in Trinidad. High-quality molasses serves as the raw material, which, after three to four days’ fermentation, is distilled using a combination of pot still and column still processes. With a dosage of 19 g/l, the rum achieves a delicate balance without losing any of its authenticity.


The initial ageing takes place over several years on the islands of origin, Barbados and Trinidad, where the rum is stored in 200-litre American white oak casks. It is then shipped to Maison Ferrand in France. There, it undergoes a special finishing process in small, heavily toasted Ferrand casks, which lend it additional depth and a subtle smoky note. This interplay of tropical ageing and European finishing makes Planteray Black Cask a rum full of character, distinguished by its complexity and elegance.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber with golden highlights.

Nose: Lively, with notes of honey, apple blossom, cooked banana, lime zest and vanilla, along with coconut, roasted coffee and almonds.

Palate: Round and fruity with sweet undertones and candied fruit.

Finish: Full-bodied and long-lasting with notes of coffee, nutmeg, cinnamon and coconut.
