The Penfolds Max’s Shiraz Cabernet 2022, 14.5% ABV, 0.75 l, is an elegant blend from the renowned Australian winery Penfolds, which has been synonymous with world-class wines since 1844. The Max’s Linie is named after the legendary cellar master Max Schubert, who is regarded as the creator of the iconic Grange. With this Linie, Penfolds pays tribute to its philosophy of creating wines that are equally accessible, full of character and of the highest quality.


The cuvée combines Australia’s two most important grape varieties: Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Shiraz brings richness, spice and dark fruit, whilst the Cabernet Sauvignon contributes structure, elegance and depth. The grapes are sourced from various premium vineyards in South Australia, including McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and the Barossa Valley, which ensure optimal ripeness and aromatic diversity. The wine is aged partly in French and American oak barrels, lending it additional complexity, subtle toasted notes and structure.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Penfolds Max’s Shiraz Cabernet 2022 displays a deep ruby red colour with violet highlights. On the nose, aromas of blackcurrants, plums and blackberries dominate, complemented by notes of chocolate, cedarwood and subtle spice. On the palate, it is powerful, fruit-driven and well-structured, with velvety tannins, well-integrated acidity and a long, harmonious finish.

This Australian red wine is an ideal accompaniment to grilled or braised beef, lamb, game dishes or hearty pasta dishes. It also pairs excellently with mature hard cheeses. Thanks to its intense aromas and structure, it is suitable for both festive dinners and special moments of enjoyment in a small group. The ideal serving temperature is 16–18 °C; a brief decanting is recommended to allow its full range of aromas to develop to the full.
