The Glenfarclas 105 12 Years Old Highland Single Malt The Hourglass Limited Edition 60% vol. 0.7 l + GB is an absolute rarity in the world of Scotch whisky. As early as 1968, the Glenfarclas 105 was released as the very first officially commercial cask-strength whisky, thereby making whisky history. Now, for the first time, a bottling of this classic with an age statement is being released: the Glenfarclas 105 has matured for a full 12 years in the richest Oloroso sherry casks, thereby combining the legendary strength of the 105 with the depth of a long cask maturation.


With an alcohol content of 60% vol., this limited edition impresses with its intense spiciness, full-bodied structure and outstanding complexity. The hand-selected Oloroso casks, which still retain a natural volume of 60 per cent even after 12 years, are a rarity and highlight the Grant family’s excellent cask management. Presented in an ornate golden hourglass design, the 105 12 Years Old embodies a unique journey through time, showcasing craftsmanship, sherry cask maturation and the traditional Dunnage Warehouses.


This edition is strictly limited to 4,200 bottles and has been released exclusively for the German market. It offers connoisseurs the opportunity to discover an unrivalled variant of the world-famous Glenfarclas 105, which sets new standards with its balance of intense sherry sweetness, powerful spice and full-bodied strength.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep mahogany with reddish-golden highlights.

Nose: Rich sherry aromas with raisins, dark chocolate, caramel and spicy oak.

Palate: Full-bodied and complex, with intense notes of Oloroso sherry, dried fruit, toffee, roasted nuts and a warm spiciness.

Finish: Very long, powerful and warming, with lingering sherry notes and elegant hints of wood.

The Glenfarclas 105 12 Years Old The Hourglass Edition should be enjoyed neat in a nosing glass to allow its full depth to unfold. A few drops of water further open up the complex sherry spice. It pairs excellently with dark chocolate, dried figs or walnuts and is an ideal accompaniment to full-bodied cigars.
