Description
Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 14% ABV 0.75 l
The Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 is an iconic red wine from Piedmont that bears the hallmark of Angelo Gaja – one of Italy’s most famous winemakers, who has left a lasting mark on the world of wine with his uncompromising philosophy of quality. Since the 1960s, the Gaja winery has been synonymous with innovation and excellence, and the Barbaresco is regarded as the estate’s flagship wine. Thanks to warm, sunny months and cool nights, the 2015 vintage produced particularly well-balanced and harmonious wines, which are prized for their elegance, depth and ageing potential.
The wine is made from 100 per cent Nebbiolo grapes, which thrive in the calcareous marl and clay soils of the Barbaresco region. It is aged traditionally in wooden casks and barriques, developing structure, complexity and finesse. With an alcohol content of 14% vol., the Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 is a wine of great expressiveness that impressively reflects the authenticity of its terroir. It is regarded as a wine for special occasions and is also a sought-after collector’s item with excellent ageing potential.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Gaja Barbaresco 2015 displays a brilliant ruby red colour with garnet-red highlights. On the nose, elegant aromas of cherries, ripe wild berries and plums unfold, complemented by floral notes of roses and violets, as well as subtle nuances of tobacco, liquorice, truffle and spices. On the palate, it is powerful and complex, with firm yet elegant tannins, fresh acidity and a perfect balance between fruit, spice and minerality. The finish is long, precise and characterised by remarkable elegance.
The Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 is an outstanding accompaniment to rich dishes. It pairs perfectly with game, braised meats, lamb or beef fillet, as well as with mature hard cheeses and truffle dishes. It also reveals its full potential when paired with classic Piedmontese specialities such as ‘Brasato al Barolo’ or ‘Tajarin’ with mushrooms. Served at a temperature of 16–18 °C, it reveals its full potential. Thanks to its structure and depth, it is also excellently suited to ageing and develops additional complexity and elegance over the years.
