Lochlea Orchard & Oak Single Estate Single Malt Scotch Whisky comes from the independent Lochlea Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands, which is known for its authentic approach and the exclusive use of its own barley. As a single estate whisky, this bottling stands for maximum transparency and traceability, as every step from barley harvesting to bottling takes place on the estate itself. Bottled at 46% vol., it impresses with its balance and fine complexity.


It was matured in an unusual combination of bourbon barrels, fresh oak barrels (New Oak) and Calvados casks, which give it an exciting complexity. While the bourbon casks add vanilla and caramel notes, the fresh oak casks provide spicy depth and structure, and the Calvados casks from Normandy contribute fruity apple and pear flavours. The Orchard & Oak is not chill-filtered and is bottled in its natural colour without colouring agents, which emphasises its original purity and quality.

Tasting Note

Colour: Bright gold with light amber reflections.

Nose: Sweet apple notes, fresh grass, earthy nuances and delicate floral accents.

Palate: Fresh and lively, with green apples, creamy caramel, grassy flavours and spicy oak. Notes of apple pie, rich and buttery, with a fine freshness of cream and fruit.

Finish: Sweet oak, caramel and light cereal notes, soft and harmonious.

The Lochlea Orchard & Oak Single Malt is a versatile pleasure enjoyed neat at room temperature. It goes excellently with mild cheeses such as Camembert, accompanies roast poultry or pork fillet and harmonises perfectly with apple-based desserts such as tarte tatin or apple strudel. The Calvados maturation also makes it an excellent base for creative whisky cocktails, for example in a highball with apple juice and soda or a fruity whisky sour, which perfectly emphasise its fresh, fruity style.
