The Viña Costeira Meu Mencía Vintage 2024 is a characterful Spanish red wine from the historic D.O. Ribeiro region in Galicia. It is made entirely from the indigenous Mencía grape variety, which is renowned for its fruity aromas and elegant structure. The vines thrive on sandy-gravelly soils with a granite subsoil, which lend the wine its delicate minerality and depth. Thanks to the Atlantic climate, with warm days and cool nights, the grapes develop a unique balance between ripeness, freshness and finesse.


The grapes are selectively harvested by hand and gently processed. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to optimally preserve the freshness and fruit intensity of the Mencía grape. With an alcohol content of 12.5% vol., this wine is pleasantly light, yet complex and elegant. The name ‘Meu’ means ‘one’s own’ in Galician and embodies the philosophy of the Viña Costeira winery: to produce wines with the utmost care and in harmony with nature. With a drinking window extending to 2026, it is ideal both for immediate enjoyment and for a short period of bottle ageing.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Meu Mencía 2024 displays a vibrant cherry red colour with violet highlights. On the nose, aromas of juicy red berries, cherries and raspberries unfold, underpinned by floral notes and a hint of fresh herbs. On the palate, it is silky and harmonious, with a fine tannin structure, lively acidity and an elegant, fruit-driven finish.

This Mencía from Ribeiro pairs superbly with grilled poultry, tapas, pasta with light sauces and Mediterranean vegetable dishes. It is also an ideal accompaniment to mild cheeses or hearty salads. Served at 14–16 °C, it reveals its fruity elegance to the full and is suitable both as an uncomplicated everyday wine and as a stylish companion for social gatherings.
