The Macallan 12 Years Old Sherry Oak Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is one of the classic expressions from the historic Macallan Distillery in Speyside. The whisky is matured for at least 12 years on The Macallan Estate and forms part of the renowned Sherry Oak Collection, whose style is significantly influenced by European oak casks previously used to age sherry. The intense influence of these casks gives the single malt its characteristic blend of dried fruit, ginger, spices and oak. At the same time, the whisky’s entirely natural colour develops during the long period of cask maturation, without the need for any additional colourings. As it matures, the typical notes of dried fruit and woody spices develop into a complex and balanced Speyside character.

The Macallan 12 Years Sherry Oak is bottled at 40% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle and is available in this version together with a gift box. The current design of the Macallan Sherry Oak Collection has been reimagined by the renowned designer David Carson and creatively captures the journey and craftsmanship associated with the sherry casks used. The River Spey, which flows through the estate, is also closely linked to the distillery’s identity. Tasting Note

Colour: Natural, warm mahogany with golden highlights.

Nose: Rich, with dried fruit, candied citrus peel and oak, accompanied by ginger, nutmeg and subtle spice.

Palate: Full-bodied and complex with raisins and sultanas, followed by ginger syrup, sweet cinnamon spice, oak and a subtle hint of vanilla.

Finish: Long-lasting and warming, with oak, spicy ginger and slowly fading notes of dried fruit.

The Macallan 12 Years Old Sherry Oak Cask, presented in a gift box, is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, although a few drops of still water can further bring out the dried fruit and spice notes. Mature hard cheese, walnuts and roasted almonds pair well with the pronounced sherry cask and oak character. Dark chocolate and desserts featuring raisins, orange, cinnamon or Ingwerer also complement key elements of the whisky.
