The Douglas Laing The Gauldrons Eclipse Limited Edition is an exclusive Campbeltown blended malt Scotch whisky that embodies the mysterious spirit of the Scottish west coast. Produced by the renowned family-run company Douglas Laing & Co., which has been synonymous with hand-selected small-batch and single-cask bottlings since 1948, this special edition combines masterful craftsmanship, maritime depth and exceptional cask maturation.

The 2025 Limited Edition is limited to just 3,000 bottles worldwide and is bottled at cask strength at 52.9% ABV – non-chill-filtered and with no added colouring, to preserve the whisky’s natural character. What makes it special: the whisky was matured in orange wine casks from Jerez, Spain, which lend it an unrivalled combination of fruitiness, spice and elegance.

In the glass, The Gauldrons Eclipse presents a rich golden hue and a complex bouquet reminiscent of the rugged Campbeltown coastline. Notes of malt, dried apricots, orange peel and toasted almonds characterise the nose. On the palate, walnuts, honey, ginger and stone fruits emerge, rounded off by the fresh, citrusy sophistication of the orange wine finish. The finish is long-lasting, warm and spicy, with subtle orange peel, nutty depth and a hint of maritime smoke – a characterful whisky that is a true rarity.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep golden with an amber sheen.

Nose: Malt, dried fruit, orange peel, sweet spice and toasted almonds.

Palate: Complex and full-bodied with notes of honey, Ingwerer, nuts and ripe orange.

Finish: Long-lasting, spicy and slightly smoky with hints of oak and citrus.

It pairs superbly with dark chocolate, dried figs, roasted nuts or strong hard cheese.
