The Planteray O.F.T.D. Overproof Rum is a tribute to the classic style of Navy rums - strong, full of character and characterised by true craftsmanship. With an alcohol content of 69% vol., this rum embodies the intensity and flavour density that once served as a benchmark for quality for the sailors of the Royal Navy. The name O.F.T.D. officially stands for Old Fashioned Traditional Dark, but connoisseurs know that it actually goes back to the legendary exclamation of a tasting team: "Oh F* That's Delicious!" - a spontaneous expression of pure enthusiasm when the perfect recipe was found.


Behind this extraordinary creation is Alexandre Gabriel, Master Blender and mastermind behind Planteray. Together with six experienced "rum veterans" from all over the world - all proven experts in their field - he developed the concept for a genuine old-school overproof rum. In an intensive, month-long process, over 1000 different samples were created until the final result was finalised: a masterful composition of rums from Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados, perfectly balanced to capture the essence of Caribbean distilling.


The Planteray O.F.T.D. is therefore not just a blend, but a true collaboration between seven rum enthusiasts who have channelled their passion into every facet of this rum. It combines the depth and molasses notes of Guyana, the strong fruitiness and spiciness of Jamaica and the fine balance and elegance of Barbados. After blending, the rum is matured in French oak barrels, which give it its harmonious structure and warm, sweet-spicy profile.

Tasting Note

Colour: Rich, deep red mahogany.

Nose: Intense and precise with notes of coffee, orange, plums, marmalade and truffle, accompanied by molasses, vanilla and dark chocolate.

Taste: Full-bodied, strong and creamy with flavours of caramel, chocolate and vanilla, followed by cinnamon, sultanas, nutmeg, oak and smoky accents.
