Hampden Estate 1753 3 Years Old Pure Single Jamaican Rum is an official bottling from the historic Hampden Estate Distillery in Trelawny Parish, Jamaica. Its name commemorates the year of its foundation, 1753, and thus nearly three centuries of Jamaican rum-making tradition. Hampden Estate Rum is particularly renowned for its intense, ester-rich Pure Single Jamaican rums, which are produced using traditional methods. The raw materials used are molasses, sugar cane vinegar, dunder and muck, whilst distillation takes place exclusively in classic double retort pot stills. The Hampden 1753 bears the HLCF mark – Hampden Light Continental Flavoured, one of the distillery’s best-known production specifications – and was designed as an accessible introduction to Hampden’s distinctive aromatic style.

Following distillation, Hampden 1753 is aged for three years, 100 per cent in ex-bourbon casks, in Jamaica’s tropical climate. Since 2010, Hampden Estate Rum has been ageing directly on the estate in tropical conditions, whilst the first official bottlings under its own name were released in 2018. The 3-year-matured Jamaican rum is bottled at 46% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle and, in this version, is also available in a gift box. Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold.

Nose: Intense and generous, with lush tropical fruits, accompanied by subtle smoky notes and elegant floral and herbal accents.

Palate: Rich and full-bodied with ripe pineapple and banana, complemented by spices, nuts and a fresh, vegetal element.

Finish: Long-lasting and complex with floral and herbaceous nuances, a hint of saltiness, and fresh lemon and grapefruit, followed by sweet spices and light fruits.

The Hampden Estate 1753, presented in a gift box, is best enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C to appreciate its characteristic HLCF pot-still aromas. Grilled pineapple, caramelised banana, roasted nuts and dark chocolate pair particularly well with the intense tropical fruit notes.
