Description
Description
The Ceel Blaufränkisch Reserve 2023 with 13.5% vol. in a 0.75-litre bottle comes from the renowned Weingut Ceel from Rust in Burgenland and is an outstanding representative of the Austrian Blaufränkisch grape variety. It is an expression of the characterful terroir on the Leithaberg, where clay and limestone soils give the wines structure, depth and minerality. The wine is carefully matured in 500-litre wooden barrels, allowing the wine to develop a balance between fruit, spice and fine wood structure.
The 2023 vintage is characterised by its ripe fruit, harmonious texture and intense aromas. Thanks to careful ageing in wooden barrels, the result is a wine with finesse, depth and impressive balance. Typical of Weingut Ceel, this Blaufränkisch Reserve stands for precision, terroir awareness and craftsmanship at the highest level. With a storage potential until 2032, it is long-lasting and elegant - a wine that epitomises Burgenland red wine culture in its most beautiful form.
Tasting Note
The Ceel Blaufränkisch Reserve 2023 has a medium ruby red colour in the glass. The nose reveals fruity and spicy aromas of ripe black cherries, blackberries and a fine hint of thyme. Delicate notes of dark chocolate lend depth and elegance. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, juicy and harmonious, with lively fruit and perfectly integrated tannins. The structure is powerful, yet always balanced and characterised by great drinking pleasure. The finish is clear, flavoursome and long-lasting with a fruity aftertaste.
Acidity: 6.4 g/l
Residual sugar: 2.3 g/l
The Ceel Blaufränkisch Reserve 2023 is a versatile accompaniment to beef, lamb and game dishes, such as fillet of beef with herb butter, saddle of lamb with thyme sauce or venison ragout. It also unfolds its full potential with savoury pasta dishes, mushroom risotto or mature hard cheese. Its spicy, fruity flavour harmonises perfectly with Mediterranean cuisine and grilled vegetables. Served at 16-18 °C, this Blaufränkisch impresses with its structure, elegance and long-lasting depth - a wine that both delights when young and gains in complexity over the years.
