The Frescobaldi Nipozzano Chianti Rúfina Riserva GOLD EDITION DOCG 2020, presented in a 3×0.75-litre gift box, comes from the time-honoured Castello Nipozzano, the historic heart of the estate, which lies around 35 kilometres north-east of Florence. The wine is produced in the renowned Chianti Rúfina region, one of the oldest and most prestigious sub-zones of Chianti, known for its elegant style and cooler microclimate. The cuvée is predominantly based on Sangiovese, complemented by Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which together define the complex structure and multi-layered character of this Riserva. After crushing and destemming, maceration takes place for around 25 days with regular pumping over, before malolactic fermentation begins immediately following alcoholic fermentation. The subsequent 25-month ageing period, which takes place partly in wooden barrels and partly in stainless-steel tanks, lends the wine its depth, elegance and balance.


The GOLD EDITION embodies the fusion of tradition, terroir and a stylistically well-defined interpretation of Chianti Rufina. Nipozzano is regarded as a symbol of Tuscan wine-growing history and represents a precise marriage of grape variety identity, regional character and modern winemaking techniques. Tasting Note

In the glass, it displays a clear purplish-red colour. On the nose, bright, straightforward and complex aromas come to the fore: floral notes, red berries such as raspberry, blackberry and blueberry, followed by toasted and spicy hints of tea leaves, nutmeg and coffee. On the palate, the wine is warm, smooth and yet fresh, with an elegant structure. Fine tannins are harmoniously integrated, leading to a long-lasting, balanced finish.

The Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva GOLD EDITION 2020 is an excellent accompaniment to classic Tuscan dishes such as bistecca alla Fiorentina, ragù alla Toscana or braised leg of lamb.
