The Springbank 15 Years Old Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 46 per cent by volume, embodies the unmistakable character of one of Scotland’s most historic distilleries. The Springbank Distillery, founded in 1828 by the Reid family on the Kintyre Peninsula, remains one of the defining producers of the Campbeltown region to this day. A large proportion of this 15-year-old expression is matured in sherry casks, which gives the whisky its deep, warm character. Typical of Springbank is the exceptionally long fermentation period of 110 hours, as well as the rare process of double-and-a-half distillation, in which one part of the distillate is distilled three times and another part twice. The malt is kilned for six hours over a peat fire and then for 24 hours with hot air, resulting in a slightly peaty character of around 12 to 15 ppm. The whisky is not chill-filtered and retains its natural character in full, which particularly highlights its authentic Campbeltown style.


The cask maturation produces a complex, balanced single malt that combines the region’s typical elements – maritime notes, subtle smokiness and delicately integrated malty sweetness – with chocolatey, fruity and spicy sherry aromas. This bottling thus impressively demonstrates why Springbank has been regarded for decades as one of the country’s most distinctive distilleries and is highly prized by connoisseurs.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber.

Nose: Typical sherry and tropical fruit notes, malt, dark chocolate, gingerbread, almonds, toffee, vanilla, wood smoke, light maritime notes, leather and oak.

Palate: A creamy body with sweet notes of raisins, figs, chocolate, pepper, vanilla and marzipan.

Finish: Long, nutty, subtly fruity and warming.

This Springbank 15 Years Old pairs superbly with robust dishes such as salty cheeses, hearty meat dishes or smoked salmon, as its sherry spice and subtle smokiness provide an ideal contrast. It creates a particularly harmonious pairing with desserts such as dark chocolate, nut cake, fig compote or spiced biscuits. When enjoyed neat, it reveals its full depth when warmed slightly in the hand and is perfect for quiet moments of indulgence in the evening.
