Glendalough Double Barrel Irish Whiskey combines traditional Irish distilling craftsmanship with a modern maturation process that gives the whiskey its distinctive character. Produced at the Glendalough Distillery, nestled in the picturesque Wicklow Mountains, this single grain whisky is crafted from carefully selected grains and pure spring water. It is first matured in ex-American bourbon casks before being finished in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. This combination gives the whisky an elegant structure, in which the typical grain notes of the single grain meet the aromatic depth of the sherry casks. The artisanal production method and clear sense of origin make this bottling an authentic example of Irish whisky tradition.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber.

Nose: Smooth, slightly fruity, subtle sweetness, elegant oak notes.

Palate: Round, smooth, delicately spicy, with hints of grain and subtle notes of sherry.

Finish: Long-lasting, harmonious and smooth.

This whisky is excellent with mild cheeses, roasted nuts, caramelised biscuits or vanilla desserts, which subtly bring out its delicate sweet notes. It also pairs well with white meat dishes, grilled poultry or light pasta dishes, where its gentle oak aromas come into their own. When enjoyed neat, it reveals a clear structure, yet it also demonstrates its versatility in high-quality cocktails – such as a whisky sour or an elegant Old Fashioned – whilst remaining perfectly balanced throughout.
