Penderyn MYTH Single Malt Welsh Whisky is part of the relaunched Penderyn Dragon Range, which has been shaping the modern expression of the Welsh whisky tradition since 2015. This bottling is non-chill-filtered, uncoloured and has been matured in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and rejuvenated oak casks. With these casks, the wood on the inside is sanded down and re-charred, which reactivates the cask and allows it to impart fresh flavours to the whisky. The new, lighter bottle and the redesigned gift box make the Dragon series stand out visually whilst also improving its environmental sustainability.


Thanks to Penderyn’s special distillation method, a particularly pure, aromatically clear distillate is produced. The MYTH is correspondingly light, fruity and approachable, without lacking structure. The symbolism of the Red Dragon, which represents Wales and is deeply rooted in the country’s history, accompanies this edition and emphasises its cultural background.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale gold.

Nose: Fresh and lively with citrus fruits, apple, pear drops and a hint of tropical fruits.

Palate: Sweet on the attack, followed by a slight bitterness, leading into dominant fruity notes.

Finish: Long-lasting, light, lively and approachable, typical of the distillery’s style.

This Welsh single malt is ideal with light dishes such as fresh cheese, mild poultry or smoked fish, as its fruity freshness elegantly complements these flavours. It also pairs well with citrus desserts, light tarts or apple pastries, which subtly bring out its lively fruitiness. In drinks such as a whisky highball or a light sour, it reveals its clear, approachable structure. Served neat at room temperature, the MYTH reveals its fresh and fruity nuances most clearly, leaving a long-lasting, bright flavour profile.
