Rey Campero Mezcal CUISHE is an expressive, traditionally produced mezcal from Oaxaca that impressively reflects the diversity of wild agave varieties. For this limited edition bottling, only Cuishe agaves aged around ten years are used – a wild variety from the Karwinskii family, known for its slender growth habit and particularly mineral-rich flavour profile. Rey Campero stands for artisanal mezcal production in harmony with nature, with each agave carefully selected and processed. Production follows classic methods: after harvesting, the agave hearts are roasted in earth ovens, then crushed, naturally fermented and double-distilled.


This Mezcal Joven, produced in February 2021, was bottled without ageing to preserve the original character of the Cuishe agave unadulterated. At 49% ABV, it is powerful, complex and clearly structured. The combination of intense spiciness, pronounced minerality, delicate fruity notes and elegant smokiness makes this bottling an authentic example of high-quality, artisanal mezcals. Worldwide, the Rey Campero Cuishe is limited to 699 bottles.

Tasting Note

Colour: Clear.

Nose: A fruity bouquet of passion fruit, banana and mango, underpinned by subtle smoky notes.

Palate: Spicy chilli meets ripe lemon, delicate mint, floral notes and a subtle smokiness.

Finish: Long-lasting, smoky and mineral with a spicy aftertaste.

This mezcal is ideal for drinking neat, allowing you to fully savour its complex aromas. On the palate, it pairs superbly with grilled meat, mole dishes, roasted vegetables or spicy Mexican cuisine. It also reveals its mineral and spicy depth particularly well when paired with dark chocolate, citrus desserts or roasted nuts. In sophisticated mezcal cocktails, it adds structure, smokiness and freshness, yet remains most impressive when enjoyed neat as a sipping mezcal with a long-lasting character.
