The Heinrich Blaufränkisch Burgenland 2024 is a prime example of Burgenland’s signature grape variety and clearly and authentically expresses its unmistakable character. Blaufränkisch is regarded as the region’s defining grape variety and here reveals its full potential, combined with terroir and craftsmanship. The vines thrive on deep loamy soils around Deutschkreutz, which lend the wine its intense fruitiness, structure and a distinctive mineral character. The grapes are hand-picked, carefully processed and then aged in barrels, resulting in depth, balance and elegance without losing their youthful freshness. With an alcohol content of 13.5 per cent, the 2024 vintage is powerful, juicy and, at the same time, approachable.


This Blaufränkisch from Burgenland has been deliberately vinified to be a delight to drink even in its youth, whilst retaining the substance and structure needed for further development. Ageing in oak enhances the natural fruit and adds extra complexity and length. The wine reveals its perfect balance of fruit, spice and mineral depth particularly well when served at a temperature of 16 to 18 °C.

Tasting Note

In the glass, it is a clear, deep ruby red. On the nose, it offers intense dark berry fruit with a spicy, mineral character. On the palate, it is juicy, well-structured and balanced, with lively fruit and well-integrated spice. The finish is harmoniously full-bodied and long-lasting.

The Heinrich Blaufränkisch Burgenland 2024 pairs perfectly with roast beef, steak and game dishes, where its structure, spice and juicy fruit really come into their own. It also pairs superbly with hearty meat dishes from the regional cuisine, as well as braised lamb. Furthermore, this Blaufränkisch is equally impressive on its own during quiet moments of enjoyment, when a characterful red wine with a clear provenance and great drinking pleasure is called for.
