Schwarz THE BUTCHER Cuvée 2022 is a quality Austrian red wine with a strong character that combines drinkability, flavour and elegance in an unmistakable signature. Produced by the distinctive Schwarz winery, this bottling stands for a juicy, accessible style with depth. 100% Zweigelt forms the basis of this wine and shows the grape variety from its spicy, fruity side. It is matured for 12 months in used barrique barrels, which refines the structure and texture without masking the fruit.


With an alcohol content of 13.5%, the 2022 vintage is balanced, lively and very easy to drink. The style is deliberately clear and direct, but at the same time has fine details. The name THE BUTCHER symbolises a powerful, honest red wine that is uncomplicatedly enjoyable yet sophisticated. Bottled in the classic 0.75-litre bottle, this Zweigelt from Burgenland is versatile and accessible at an early age.

Tasting Note

Dark ruby-garnet in colour with violet reflections and a delicate brightening of the rim. Hints of cornell cherries, dark berry confit and blackberry on the nose, accompanied by delicate tobacco spice, black tea nuances and a hint of nougat. Juicy on the palate with a fine texture, delicate tannin and dark berry fruit, accentuated by fine pepper. The finish is chocolaty, round and pleasantly persistent.

Schwarz THE BUTCHER Cuvée 2022 is an excellent accompaniment to grilled meat, burgers, pasta with savoury sauces or classic home cooking. This dry Zweigelt also impresses on its own thanks to its high drinking flow and spicy, fruity character. At a serving temperature of around 14 to 16 °C, it develops its balance, freshness and uncomplicated character particularly convincingly.
