Description
Tournon Mathilda Viognier Marsanne 2023 14% ABV 0.75 l online kaufen
The Tournon Mathilda Viognier Marsanne 2023 is a characterful Australian white wine that precisely reflects the elegant yet fresh style of the Victoria wine region. This blend of Viognier and Marsanne combines aromatic expressiveness with mineral clarity and epitomises modern Australian white wine with a distinct sense of place. The grapes are deliberately harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness, natural acidity and aromatic precision, whilst consistently avoiding overripeness.
The vines are rooted in podzolic soils of red ferruginous clay over schist, which lend the wine its pronounced minerality, structure and depth. After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed before undergoing cold settling for 48 hours. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks preserves the freshness and fruit typical of the grape varieties. The subsequent ageing on the fine lees for five months lends the wine additional texture and complexity without overshadowing its distinct style. The result is a well-balanced Viognier-Marsanne white wine that harmoniously combines fruit, freshness and structure, whilst clearly emphasising the grape varieties and terroir.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the wine displays a pale golden hue. On the nose, it offers a fresh, crisp and fruit-driven bouquet with notes of ripe stone fruit. On the palate, the wine impresses with a smooth, fresh attack characterised by pronounced minerality and juicy fruitiness. The finish is balanced, clean and long-lasting.
The Tournon Mathilda Viognier Marsanne 2023 is an excellent, versatile accompaniment to Mediterranean cuisine, grilled fish, seafood, prawns or scallops. It pairs particularly well with poultry dishes, veal, pasta with light sauces, or vegetable dishes with herbs and olive oil. This Australian white wine also reveals its freshness and structure when paired with mild to medium-strength cheeses, Asian-inspired dishes or vegetarian meals. Furthermore, it is an ideal aperitif wine and is equally impressive on its own when a fresh, mineral-driven Viognier-Marsanne with substance and elegance is called for.
