Malibu Coconut Rum Liqueur is a rum-based coconut liqueur that is recognised worldwide for its unmistakable Caribbean flair. Originally developed in Barbados and established internationally since 1980, this coconut rum liqueur epitomises summery lightness and tropical indulgence. The brand was born from the idea of making classic cocktails such as the Malibu Piña Colada simpler and more accessible. Since the early days, when the product was still known as Coco Rico, Malibu Original has become a firm favourite in the rum and coconut liqueur segment.


Made on the basis of white rum distilled from sugar cane syrup, this Caribbean rum liqueur combines the mild structure of a light rum with an intense coconut flavour. With an alcohol content of 18%, it is one of the particularly popular low ABV spirits that are ideal for uncomplicated mixed drinks. Today, production takes place mainly in Canada, supplemented by other locations in the USA and Spain. It is characterised by its clear appearance and distinct tropical flavour profile, which makes it a firm favourite in the world of summer cocktails, beach drinks and party cocktails. Malibu Coconut contains no coconut milk, coconut cream or other animal ingredients, but is not certified vegan due to industrial sugar refining.

The Malibu Coconut Rum liqueur is ideal for classic cocktails such as the Malibu Piña Colada with pineapple juice and cream, served with summer dishes such as grilled chicken with mango salsa or Caribbean jerk meat. It also goes perfectly with light salads with prawns or avocado in combination with cranberry juice as Malibu Bay Breeze. As an accompaniment to desserts such as coconut panna cotta, pineapple tart or exotic fruit salad, it emphasises the tropical flavours. Malibu Coconut can also be enjoyed neat on ice as a digestif after a summer barbecue or as a base for frozen daiquiri variations, which are particularly suitable for warm temperatures and sociable evenings outdoors.
