Description
Roner TER Lignum Whisky is an exceptional South Tyrolean whisky, produced from a specially created FORST malt blend. The malt is brewed and fermented at the historic FORST craft brewery before being further processed at the renowned Roner distillery in accordance with the principles of traditional distillation. This close collaboration between two traditional South Tyrolean businesses forms the basis for a characterful malt blend whisky that combines craftsmanship, regionality and a spirit of innovation. After distillation, the whisky is diluted to a drinking strength of 40% using particularly soft FORST brewing water, which harmoniously rounds off its structure.
At the heart of this Triple Wood Whisky lies its maturation for at least five years in barrique casks made of cherry, oak and larch. These three types of wood come from the local forests surrounding the FORST brewery and lend the TER Lignum Whisky its distinctive profile. Whilst the oak provides structure and depth, the cherry wood introduces subtle reddish highlights and fruity nuances, whilst the larch, with its resinous character, adds complexity. As a traditionally distilled whisky from South Tyrol, this bottling underscores the expertise of Italy’s most award-winning distillery and positions itself as a unique representative of modern European whisky craftsmanship.
Tasting Note
Colour: Golden, dark amber, with a reddish tinge.
Nose: Malty, delicate, elegant, complex, ripe plums.
Palate: Full-bodied, complex, fruity, slightly sweet, toasted oak, vanilla, coconut.
Finish: Dark chocolate, fresh mint, resinous notes, long-lasting.
Roner TER Lignum Whisky is an excellent accompaniment to hearty meat dishes such as braised beef, game ragout or rack of lamb, as its woody structure and spice highlight the roasted flavours of the food. It also pairs well with mature hard cheeses such as mountain cheese or spicy Comté. For dessert, it is excellent with dark chocolate tart, stewed plums or nut cake, where its fruity and chocolatey notes come into their own. This triple-wood-matured South Tyrolean whisky also reveals its complex structure as a digestif following a multi-course meal, offering a balanced, long-lasting finish.
