Description
The Doppio Passo Primitivo Salento IGT 2024 is a powerful Primitivo from Apulia with a strong character that authentically reflects the sun-drenched landscape of Salento. Produced by the traditional Casa Vinicola Carlo Botter, this Italian red wine stands for modern cellar technology combined with regional identity. As a classic Primitivo Salento IGT, it epitomises the typicality of southern Italy and impresses with its substance, expression and reliable quality. At 13.5%, this red wine from Italy is harmoniously structured and versatile.
The eponymous Doppio Passo method is based on a double harvest of the Primitivo grapes. One part of the grapes is harvested at optimum ripeness, while a second part remains on the vine for longer. This later harvest ensures a natural concentration and gives the wine more body and depth. This special vinification creates a balanced Primitivo 2024 that combines strength and elegance and is ideal both as a food companion and as a soloist. The 2024 vintage is particularly round and accessible and emphasises Carlo Botter's signature as a reliable force in the field of high-quality IGT red wines from Apulia.
Tasting Note
A deep ruby red in the glass with dark violet reflections, the nose reveals intense aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries and plums, accompanied by fine notes of cocoa, on the palate the wine is full-bodied and structured, with soft tannins, a harmoniously integrated fruit sweetness and remarkable depth, the finish is soft and round, long-lasting and characterised by dark fruit and elegant spice.
This Primitivo Salento IGT is ideal with hearty meat dishes such as grilled beef steak, braised beef stew or lamb chops with rosemary. It also comes into its own with pasta with spicy sugo, lasagne al forno or aubergine casserole with Parmesan. It is particularly harmonious with BBQ dishes, spare ribs or Mediterranean-flavoured grilled pork fillet. This Italian red wine also goes well with matured hard cheeses such as Pecorino or Grana Padano and is an excellent wine to enjoy in the evening, served at around 16 to 18 degrees to bring out its structure and depth.
