The Hillinger Hill Side Red 2018 13% Vol. 6 l is an expressive red wine cuvée from Burgenland that combines the characteristic interplay of several grape varieties to create a powerful yet elegant Austrian red wine. Produced by the renowned Leo Hillinger winery, this cuvée red wine combines the flavour of Syrah, the fruity structure of Zweigelt and the power of Merlot to create a harmonious composition. The blend consists of 60% Syrah, 30% Zweigelt and 10% Merlot, resulting in a multi-layered Burgenland red wine with an international character.


Vinification is carried out by mash fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by 18 months of ageing in barriques, with around one third in new and two thirds in used oak barrels. This is followed by 6 months of ageing in the bottle, which gives the wine additional harmony and structure. With 13% alcohol by volume, this cuvée red wine from Austria is powerful and balanced. The impressive 6-litre Methuselah bottle makes this Hillinger red wine a special eye-catcher at festive occasions or in sophisticated wine collections. The wine is ready to drink now and has a storage potential of around 6 to 8 years.

Dark ruby red in the glass with a violet rim, the nose reveals fruity and spicy aromas of blackberries, raspberries and ripe cherries accompanied by nuances of smoked meat, black pepper and cloves, blackberries and black pepper stand out on the palate, complemented by fine roasted flavours and a very well-integrated acidity, the finish is compact, powerfully structured and long-lasting.

The Hillinger Hill Side Red 2018 is an excellent accompaniment to fillet of beef, steaks, veal roulades or hearty grilled dishes. This Austrian red wine cuvée also harmonises particularly well with game dishes, stews or mature cheese. Served at around 12 to 14 °C, this Burgenland red wine develops its complex flavour and structured tannin structure to optimum effect and accompanies both festive menus and enjoyable evenings with hearty dishes.
