The Tement Welschriesling Opok Südsteiermark DAC 2024, 11.5% ABV, 0.75 l, is a lively Welschriesling from Southern Styria, characterised by its terroir, which impressively reflects the signature style of the renowned Tement winery. As a Südsteiermark DAC regional wine, this Austrian white wine is characterised by freshness, clarity and a precise expression of its terroir. The vines grow predominantly on the typical Opok soils – calcareous marl soils characteristic of the region – which lend the wine its delicate minerality and elegant structure.


The vines, which are around 31 years old, produce concentrated grapes that are carefully harvested. Following natural spontaneous fermentation, the wine matures for 6 to 12 months on the fine lees in stainless-steel tanks, giving it additional structure and aromatic depth without losing its freshness. With an alcohol content of 11.5% vol., this Welschriesling Südsteiermark DAC is particularly light, precise and lively. It is at its best within the first three years, when fruit and freshness harmonise perfectly.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Tement Welschriesling Opok 2024 appears pale yellow with a clear, brilliant shine. On the nose, aromas of green apple, lime, white flowers and delicate herbs unfold. On the palate, the wine is light, fresh and juicy, with a structuring thread of acidity. The finish is lively, slightly salty, mineral and pleasantly long-lasting.

The Tement Welschriesling Südsteiermark DAC is an ideal accompaniment to a classic Styrian ‘Brettljause’ platter featuring bacon, homemade sausages, spreads and farmhouse bread. This fresh Austrian white wine also pairs beautifully with light starters, salads, fried chicken, pan-fried fish or summer dishes featuring fresh herbs. Served at 8–10°C, this Welschriesling from Southern Styria is excellent as an easy-going aperitif and as a lively accompaniment to regional specialities.
