This Austrian red wine is vinified from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and grows on brown earth soils that give it depth, structure and expression. Vinification is carried out with great precision: a 5-day cold maceration is followed by a maceration period of around 4 weeks, resulting in an intensive extraction of colour, aromas and tannins. The wine then matures for 16 months in new oak barrels, which gives it additional complexity and structure. With 13% alcohol by volume, a lush tannin structure and mild acidity, this Cabernet Sauvignon from Austria is a multi-layered, storable red wine with great development potential.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Hillinger Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a dark ruby colour with an intense violet hue. An explosive aroma of cassis and roasted flavours unfolds on the nose, accompanied by spicy nuances. On the palate, the wine is youthful and powerful with a firm tannin structure, spicy texture and multi-layered flavours. The finish is very lingering and emphasises the great ageing potential of this wine.
