The Ardbeg AN OA Islay Single Malt 46.6% Vol. 0.7 l is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky with a strong character that impressively embodies the typical signature of the legendary Ardbeg Distillery. As part of the Core Range, this peated single malt whisky stands for the combination of intense smoky flavours and a surprisingly round, balanced style. The distillery on the island of Islay is known worldwide for its unmistakable, strong peat character, which is also clearly expressed in Ardbeg An Oa.
The speciality of this bottling lies in the maturing and blending of different types of cask. The Ardbeg An Oa is composed of whiskies matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, virgin oak casks and classic ex-bourbon casks. These are then married together in the so-called Gathering Vat, which creates a harmonious overall picture. The result is an Islay whisky that combines the typical smoke of Ardbeg with sweeter, spicier and fruity influences. Bottled at 46.6% and without heavy filtration, the flavour remains particularly intense and authentic.
Tasting Note
Colour: Warm gold with amber reflections.
Nose: Peat smoke, sweet spices, dark fruit, chocolate.
Flavour: Smoky, creamy, caramel, spices, citrus, dark fruit.
Finish: Langs, smoky, spicy, balanced.
The Ardbeg An Oa Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is ideal for pure enjoyment, ideally at room temperature or with a small drop of water, which allows the complex flavours to unfold optimally. In culinary terms, this peated Islay whisky harmonises particularly well with smoked meat, BBQ dishes, strong cheese or seafood such as oysters. This Ardbeg whisky also goes very well with desserts with dark chocolate, caramel or nut biscuits and complements the flavours with its intense smoke and spice structure.
