The 2024 vintage presented the Wachau winegrowers with enormous challenges. An exceptionally warm start to the year with early bud break at the end of March was followed by late frosts, hail, periods of summer heat, heavy rain and flooding in September. Thanks to precise planning and an exceptionally early harvest from 3 September, grapes of outstanding quality were nevertheless harvested. The result is an elegant yet concentrated Grüner Veltliner Smaragd that impresses with its racy acidity, precise structure and mineral depth. Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Kellerberg 2024 has a strong golden yellow colour with brilliant reflections in the glass. The nose reveals compact and expressive aromas with spicy and smoky nuances. On the palate, the Grüner Veltliner from the Wachau is deeply flavoured, texturally accentuated and powerful, with a precise structure, lively acidity and striking minerality. The finish is elegant, mineral and exceptionally long-lasting.
