Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Loiben 2025 12% ABV 0.75 l online kaufen
The Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Loiben 2025, 12% ABV, is a characterful Austrian white wine from the Wachau region, produced by the renowned Domäne Wachau. The Grüner Veltliner grapes come from the Loibenberg, one of Austria’s most significant and largest single vineyards. The historic stone terraces extend up to an altitude of 420 metres and are characterised by weathered soils over Gföhler gneiss, with patches of loess and clay in places. The Pannonian climate and the varied microclimates of the numerous ravines create ideal conditions for viticulture. The 2025 vintage was characterised by changeable weather conditions, with warm August days and cool September nights enabling the grapes to ripen to perfection. The traditional Wachau designation ‘Federspiel’ refers to dry white wines with an elegant structure and derives from the historical tradition of falconry.
The vineyards are managed sustainably and increasingly organically by the winegrowers of Domäne Wachau, with no use of insecticides or herbicides. The grapes are selectively harvested by hand, ensuring that only healthy grapes are used for vinification. Following a short maceration period, controlled fermentation takes place; the Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Loibenberg 2025 is then matured in stainless-steel tanks and stored on the fine lees for some time before bottling. This meticulous processing preserves the characteristic qualities of its origin. With an alcohol content of 12% in the 0.75-litre bottle, this dry Wachau Grüner Veltliner is suitable both for early enjoyment and for further ageing. Its ageing potential is estimated at around two to three years.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Loiben 2025 displays a pale yellow-green colour with delicate golden highlights. On the nose, an expressive bouquet unfolds with elegant fruity notes, subtle spice and characteristic smoky, mineral hints. On the palate, this white wine is full-bodied and juicy, with lively acidity, a harmonious balance of fruit and acidity, and a distinctive salty minerality. The finish is precise, refreshing and long-lasting, with a subtle spicy note.
Residual sugar: 1 g/l
The Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Loiben 2025 pairs superbly with classic Austrian dishes such as cordon bleu, plain schnitzel with risipisi and boiled beef with apple horseradish and chive sauce. This Wachau white wine also makes an excellent accompaniment to Mediterranean specialities such as saltimbocca or a hearty paella. It is particularly delightful when paired with Vietnamese summer rolls (Gỏi cuốn), aromatic Asian dishes and selected cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 8–10 °C, preferably in a classic white wine glass.
