The Eichenwald DIE ILLUSION Blanc de Noirs 2025, 12% vol., in a 0.75 l bottle, is an exceptional Blanc de Noirs from Austria that impressively demonstrates just how versatile the Blaufränkisch grape variety can be. Produced by the renowned Eichenwald winery in Horitschon, Burgenland, this special wine is made from 100% Blaufränkisch grapes, yet is presented as a white wine. The name ‘Blanc de Noirs’, which translates as ‘white from blacks’, perfectly describes this fascinating production process.


To produce it, the dark Blaufränkisch grapes are harvested whilst as cool as possible and pressed particularly gently immediately after picking. This prevents the pigments from the grape skins from entering the must, resulting in a light-coloured wine, even though only red grapes are used. This method is best known from the Champagne region and is also enjoying increasing popularity in other wine-growing regions. The wine is aged entirely in stainless steel tanks, which ensures that the freshness and fruity aromas are optimally preserved.

In the glass, the Eichenwald DIE ILLUSION Blanc de Noirs 2025 appears a pale straw yellow with brilliant highlights. On the nose, aromas of green apples, ripe pears, peaches and other stone fruits unfold, accompanied by delicate notes of cherries, berries and subtle herbs. On the palate, this Blanc de Noirs made from Blaufränkisch is juicy, fruit-forward and inviting, with pleasant acidity, lovely freshness and remarkable drinkability. The finish is long, harmonious and characterised by intense fruit.
