The Bolla Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2021, 15% ABV, in a 0.75-litre bottle, is a powerful and elegant Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG that impressively reflects the long winemaking tradition of Veneto. The historic Bolla winery combines decades of experience with classic Amarone production methods to create a red wine that impresses with its depth, structure and exceptional complexity.


The cuvée is made from the traditional grape varieties Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone, which grow on calcareous marl soils with layers of slate in the Valpolicella Classico region. Following a careful hand-harvest, the grapes are dried for around four months using the traditional appassimento method. This process naturally concentrates the sugar, aromas and extracts. This is followed by a maceration period of approximately 20 days and a fermentation lasting around 25 days. The wine is then aged in both barriques and large Slavonian oak casks, allowing it to develop additional elegance and complexity. The result is a dry Amarone DOCG that impresses with its balanced structure, impressive depth and excellent ageing potential until at least 2037. With its natural cork closure, it is ideally suited to prolonged bottle ageing.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Bolla Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2021 displays a deep ruby-garnet colour. On the nose, intense aromas of jam and raisins unfold, alongside spicy and balsamic notes. On the palate, the wine is powerful and full-bodied with a creamy texture, superbly integrated alcohol and subtle hints of toasted almonds. The finish is harmonious, complex and exceptionally long-lasting.

The Bolla Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2021 pairs superbly with braised or stewed beef, game dishes and hearty stews. This Italian Amarone is also an excellent choice with mature hard cheeses or as an expressive meditation wine after a meal. Its great ageing potential also makes it an excellent choice for the wine cellar.
