The Bushmills 12 Years Old PX SHERRY CASK Single Malt Irish Whiskey is a limited-edition release from the ‘The World Wood’ series by the historic Old Bushmills Distillery in Northern Ireland. In keeping with the distillery’s signature style, this Irish single malt whisky is triple-distilled, resulting in a particularly smooth and fruity profile. The whisky is then matured for a total of 12 years, undergoing a carefully curated cask selection process. It is initially stored in first-fill bourbon casks, before the single malt is further refined in a combination of first-fill and second-fill ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It is precisely the intense influence of the PX sherry casks that complements the fruity Bushmills style with additional depth, sweetness and spicy cask notes.


With this elaborate cask maturation, the Bushmills 12 Years Old PX Sherry Cask showcases a particularly expressive side of the Northern Irish distillery. The combination of triple distillation, first-fill bourbon casks and first- and second-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks is the defining feature of this limited edition. The 12-year-old single malt Irish whisky is bottled at a robust 46 per cent ABV, ensuring that the various cask components remain particularly prominent. Furthermore, no chill filtration is applied. Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold to amber.

Nose: Vanilla, dried fruit and honey blend with delicate dark chocolate and a pronounced PX sherry character.

Palate: Silky and complex with dates, raisins and figs, followed by espresso, liquorice and cloves, as well as vanilla, chocolate and cinnamon.

Finish: Long-lasting and spicy with toffee, dried fruit, vanilla and harmonious lingering notes of spice.

The Bushmills 12 Years Old PX Sherry Cask is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at room temperature, although a few drops of still water can bring out additional fruity and sherry notes. As a culinary accompaniment, dark chocolate, dates, figs, roasted nuts or mature hard cheese pair very well with its intense PX cask character. Desserts featuring espresso, raisins or dark chocolate also complement individual components of the whisky perfectly.
