The Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo CARMENÈRE Reserva 2023, 13.5% ABV, in a 0.75-litre bottle, is an expressive Chilean red wine that combines the distinctive Carménère grape variety with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Casillero del Diablo range is one of the best-known collections from the long-established Concha y Toro winery and is closely linked to the famous legend of the ‘Devil’s Cellar’. According to legend, the company’s founder, Don Melchor de Concha y Toro, spread the rumour that the Devil guarded his wine cellar to protect precious wines from theft – a story that remains the hallmark of the range to this day.


The 2023 vintage is an elegant and harmonious Reserva red wine, full of character and with a well-balanced structure. The blend of Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon combines intense fruit with subtle spice and a pleasant depth. Ageing with subtle oak notes lends the wine additional complexity without masking the varietal fruitiness. With an alcohol content of 13.5% vol., the Casillero del Diablo Carmenère Reserva impresses with its velvety texture, full-bodied character and excellent balance – a classic example of high-quality Chilean red wines.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo CARMENÈRE Reserva 2023 displays an intense dark red colour. On the nose, a complex bouquet unfolds with aromas of ripe plums and blackcurrants, accompanied by subtle notes of dark chocolate, coffee and hints of oak. On the palate, the cuvée is full-bodied and velvety, with fruity plum notes, spicy accents and a well-structured texture. The finish is elegant, harmonious and pleasantly long-lasting.
