The whisky was distilled on 24 April 2014 and matured for 12 years in a bourbon cask with the cask number #700377. The cask maturation imparts distinctive notes of vanilla, caramel and oak to the single malt, whilst the Jura distillate contributes a maritime, slightly salty component. This single cask bottling is released at a robust 58.9% ABV in a 0.7 l bottle and comes in a high-quality tin box.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm yellow gold.

Nose: Intense vanilla and caramel with a salty spiciness and a subtle hint of pine, accompanied by creamy toffee and a slightly oily quality.

Palate: Powerful and full-bodied with caramel and vanilla, combined with salty spice, resinous hints of pine and a nutty depth.

Finish: Long-lasting and dry with spicy wood, nuts and a slightly salty, mineral note, whilst caramel sweetness lingers subtly.

Due to its 58.9% ABV, the Signatory Vintage Jura 12 Years Cask Strength is best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a nosing glass. A few drops of still water can open up the robust cask strength and, in particular, allow the vanilla, caramel and maritime nuances to come to the fore more strongly. Culinary pairings include mature hard cheeses, roasted nuts, smoked salmon or dark chocolate with sea salt.
