For this special edition, part of the 13-year-old blend is finished in ex-American rye casks. This additional finish enhances the classic Chivas character and embodies the concept of ‘extra aged, extra cask, extra flavour’. At the same time, the choice of casks reflects the brand’s historic connection to the United States. Chivas Regal entered the American market as early as 1909 and proved particularly popular in New York. The rye cask finish draws on this shared history and translates it into a modern bottling.


Chivas Extra 13 American Rye Casks Finish is available at 40 per cent ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, complete with a gift box. A key aspect of the production process is that not all of the whisky is finished in rye casks; instead, a specific portion of the blend undergoes a finish in American rye casks. This preserves the smooth and balanced core character of Chivas Regal, whilst the additional cask finish introduces further nuances. The combination of 13 years’ maturation, Blended Scotch Whisky and a partial American rye cask finish makes this edition a distinctive variant within the Chivas Extra 13 range. The accompanying gift box further emphasises the high-quality, gift-worthy nature of the bottling.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm amber.

Nose: Soft and inviting, with creamy vanilla and a pleasant sweetness.

Palate: Harmonious and smooth with juicy, sweet orange and creamy milk chocolate, accompanied by subtle notes from the American rye casks.

Finish: Exceptionally smooth and mellow with a harmonious, lingering sweetness.

The Chivas Regal Extra 13 American Rye Casks Finish is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at room temperature, on the rocks or as the base for a classic whisky highball. Adding soda water and a twist of orange zest helps to bring out the fruity notes of the expression. Culinary pairings such as milk chocolate, orange-flavoured desserts, caramelised nuts or mild hard cheeses complement its smooth character well.
