Description
Description
The Hagn Blauer Burgunder 2024 13 % is an elegant red wine from Lower Austria, produced as a quality wine from the traditional Blauer Burgunder grape variety. The grapes come from the Hochlüssen vineyard, whose loam-loess soils provide ideal conditions for a Burgundy with a fine structure and distinctive character. After harvesting, the grapes are crushed quickly and then fermented for 22 days in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28 °C. During maceration, flooding and aeration are used to gently extract the desired compounds from the grape skins. This meticulous vinification lays the foundation for the wine’s elegant yet structured style.
Following fermentation, the wine undergoes further maturation entirely in large wooden casks, allowing the Hagn Blauer Burgunder 2024 to develop harmoniously without the influence of the wood overpowering the variety’s characteristic profile. Great finesse, juiciness and a clearly discernible tannin structure define the style of this Blauer Burgunder from Lower Austria. In the 0.75-litre bottle, with an alcohol content of 13 per cent, it offers a balanced combination of elegance and structure. Its ideal drinking window is between 2026 and 2031, making it suitable both for immediate enjoyment and for several years’ ageing.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Hagn Blauer Burgunder 2024 displays a classic ruby red colour. On the nose, a pronounced aroma of ripe raspberries and strawberries unfolds, emphasising the variety’s delicate fruitiness. On the palate, the wine is juicy and full of finesse, with a noticeable, well-integrated tannin structure. The finish is elegant, balanced and pleasantly lingering.
Acidity: 4.4 g/l
Residual sugar: 3.3 g/l
The Hagn Blauer Burgunder 2024 should be served at around 10–12 °C and pairs superbly with roast duck, veal, poultry or pork fillet. This Lower Austrian Blauer Burgunder is also a good choice with mushroom dishes, such as a creamy mushroom risotto, as well as with mildly matured cheeses. Its combination of juiciness, finesse and tannins also makes it a versatile accompaniment to classic Austrian meat dishes.
