The Illusionist Dry Gin Distiller’s The Cinema Edition SWEET N’ SALTY 2026 brings together both versions of the Cinema Edition in an extraordinary double-feature gift set. For the Distiller’s Edition 2026, The Illusionist steps away from the world of myths and folklore to focus on cinema and one of its most enduring questions: sweet or salty popcorn. The set contains one 0.5-litre bottle each of SWEET and SALTY, both with an alcohol content of 45 per cent. Both are based on the Mediterranean signature botanicals of The Illusionist Dry Gin, but interpret them in completely different ways. SWEET combines popcorn, Madagascan vanilla, caramelised brown sugar and butter toffee, whilst SALTY features popcorn, roasted butter, sea salt and roasted almonds.


True to the principle of the Distiller’s Edition, the Master Distiller will once again be granted extensive creative freedom in 2026. The result is two contrasting interpretations of gin, which together capture the essence of a classic night at the cinema. Each of the two editions is limited to just 1,234 bottles. The SWEET N’ SALTY bundle in particular allows for a direct comparison of the influence of the different ingredients: on the one hand, caramelised sweetness and creamy vanilla; on the other, toasted, salty and nutty notes. The elaborately designed set is complemented by a gift box, a curated collection of recipes, detailed tasting notes and a pair of 3D glasses, allowing the three-dimensional artwork on the bottles to be viewed. As such, the strictly limited-edition Cinema Edition 2026 Gin Set, containing 2 x 0.5 l bottles, is aimed in particular at gin enthusiasts and collectors of exceptional Illusionist Distiller’s Editions.

Tasting Note

Colour: Both editions are clear.

Nose: SWEET with warm caramel, fresh popcorn and Madagascan vanilla; SALTY with toasted cinema popcorn, almonds and a hint of warm, savoury pastries.

Palate: SWEET is velvety with caramelised brown sugar, butter toffee and Mediterranean botanicals; SALTY is savoury and full-bodied with roasted almonds, butter, sea salt and the characteristic Illusionist Dry Gin base.

Finish: SWEET – smooth and long-lasting, with toasted sugar and vanilla cream; SALTY – complex and dry, with salted nuts and a crisp, spicy juniper freshness.

The Illusionist Cinema Edition SWEET N’ SALTY set is ideal for a comparative tasting, in which both gins are first served neat and then as a gin and tonic with a dry, neutral tonic water. The SWEET Edition pairs well with caramelised popcorn, dark chocolate or roasted nuts, whilst SALTY harmonises particularly well with salted popcorn, roasted almonds or mild butter biscuits. Both variants can also be used to create creative gin cocktails, with SWEET lending itself to dessert-style drinks and SALTY to dry, savoury ones.
