The Eldvatten Svenska Bruichladdich 13 Years Old Cask #2342 is a limited-edition Islay single malt Scotch whisky from the 5th Anniversary Cat Series by the independent Swedish bottler Svenska Eldvatten. The whisky was distilled at Bruichladdich on Islay in 2012 and bottled in May 2026 after 13 years of maturation. It was matured in a fresh bourbon cask, registered under cask number #2342. The single cask was bottled at a robust 58.1 per cent, at natural cask strength. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and uncoloured, ensuring that its original cask character remains as unaltered as possible.

Cask #2342 is particularly interesting as a counterpart to the also-released Bruichladdich Cask #2341 at 56.9 per cent. Despite comparable key specifications, #2342 presents itself as more intense and powerful due to its higher cask strength. The combination of maritime freshness, citrus notes, cereal sweetness and a creamy texture – typical of Bruichladdich – remains intact, yet gains additional structure and spice thanks to the 58.1% ABV. Only 147 bottles were bottled from this single cask, giving this edition a distinct collector’s appeal. The striking Cat Label, the limited number of bottles and the combination of 13 years’ maturation, a fresh bourbon cask and cask strength make this 0.7-litre bottling a special interpretation of the unpeated Bruichladdich style.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale gold.

Nose: Fresh citrus fruits, the sweetness of grain and vanilla, accompanied by maritime notes and subtle oak spice.

Palate: Intense, creamy and powerful, with citrus notes, sweet malt and vanilla, complemented by a maritime freshness and pronounced spiciness.

Finish: Long-lasting and warming, with citrus, grain, vanilla and spicy cask notes.

The Eldvatten Bruichladdich 13 Years Old Cask #2342 should initially be tasted neat at around 18–20 °C. Due to its 58.1% cask strength, a few drops of still water can then be added to open up the high intensity and bring out further facets. Roasted almonds, mild hard cheese or smoked fish make suitable accompaniments, without overpowering the fresh Islay character. The limited run of 147 bottles and the Cat Label also make this bottling particularly interesting for collectors and those wishing to carry out comparative Bruichladdich tastings.
