The Wood Stork Spiced Black Forest Spirit Drink is a rum-based spirit from the Black Forest that combines international spices with regional ingredients. It is made using sugar cane molasses from South America, which is fermented and distilled in the Black Forest. The spirit then acquires its characteristic spiced style through a complex flavouring process. Ingredients used include ginger from Australia, chilli from China, South American coffee beans, Chinese bitter orange, vanilla and cocoa beans from the Ivory Coast. The regional character is provided by authentic Black Forest spruce and fir honey, which combines the spicy and tart components with a full-bodied sweetness.

Wood Stork Spiced is produced by Bimmerle KG in the Black Forest. The combination of South American sugarcane molasses and ingredients from various origins follows the concept of blending the Black Forest with the world of spices from different regions. In particular, coffee, cocoa, vanilla, bitter orange, ginger and chilli create a complex flavour profile, whilst the Black Forest honey adds a distinctive regional touch. The variant offered here is bottled in a 0.7-litre bottle with an alcohol content of 35 per cent and is classified as a rum-based spirit. This variant also contains colouring.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber with warm coppery highlights.

Nose: Spicy and aromatic, with coffee, cocoa and vanilla, accompanied by bitter orange, honey and a subtle hint of ginger.

Palate: Full-bodied and complex, with bittersweet coffee, cocoa and vanilla, as well as Black Forest spruce and fir honey, ginger, bitter orange and a subtle chilli heat.

Finish: Long-lasting and spicy, with sweet honey notes, cocoa, coffee and a pleasantly warming spiciness.

The Wood Stork Spiced Black Forest Spirit Drink can be enjoyed neat at around 18–20 °C, slightly chilled or on the rocks. For a straightforward long drink, it pairs well with cola and a twist of orange zest, whilst it is also ideal for a spicy Cuba Libre or Spiced Mojito. Its coffee, cocoa and honey profile pairs well with dark chocolate, roasted nuts or desserts featuring orange and vanilla. Thanks to the combination of spicy and sweet elements, it also makes an excellent digestif after hearty meals.
