The Glenlivet RARE CASK Small Batch No. 9378/018 is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky that was originally developed for the international travel retail market and is released in individually numbered small batches. For this bottling, The Glenlivet employs a triple-cask maturation process, in which whiskies from different cask types are blended together. American white oak casks, traditional oak casks and ex-sherry casks are used, with a particularly high proportion of selected first-fill ex-sherry casks playing a key role in shaping the Rare Cask’s style. This lends the distillery’s inherently fruity character additional depth, spice and cask-driven complexity. The Rare Cask does not carry an age statement. The Small Batch No. 9378/018 is bottled at the classic 40 per cent ABV in a generous 1-litre bottle.

The Glenlivet Distillery is one of Speyside’s most historic distilleries and traces its origins back to George Smith, who was granted a licence to produce whisky in 1824. Within the Triple Cask range, the Rare Cask represents a particularly sherry-influenced interpretation of the typical Glenlivet style. Since May 2019, this variant has been released in uniquely numbered small batches, allowing individual batches such as No. 9378/018 to be clearly identified. The combination of various European and American oak casks with a high proportion of first-fill sherry casks is its key distinguishing feature. Tasting Note

Colour: Gold with warm amber highlights.

Nose: Juicy peach and subtle ginger, accompanied by a delicate, syrupy fruit sweetness.

Palate: Balanced, fruity and smooth, with orange, vanilla and liquorice, as well as a pronounced, spicy sherry cask character.

Finish: Long-lasting and warming, with subtle spicy notes and lingering fruitiness.

The Glenlivet Rare Cask Small Batch is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18–20 °C, allowing the fruity and spicy cask notes to unfold in perfect balance. A few drops of still water can further open up the aromas. It pairs well with roasted almonds, mild hard cheese or dark chocolate with orange, which complement the sherry cask influence.
