Description
Hampden Estate Rum 1753 3-Year-Old Pure Single Jamaican Rum 46% vol. 0.7 l online kaufen
Hampden Estate 1753 3 Years Old Pure Single Jamaican Rum is an official bottling from the historic Hampden Estate Distillery in Trelawny Parish, Jamaica, and bears the year of its foundation, 1753, in its name. The distillery is renowned for its particularly aromatic, ester-rich Jamaican rums produced in pot stills and continues to use traditional production methods to this day. The Hampden 1753 is made from molasses, sugar cane vinegar, dunder and muck, and is distilled exclusively in double retort pot stills. This bottling forms part of the HLCF range – Hampden Light Continental Flavoured – one of the distillery’s best-known rum brands and production specifications. As such, the Hampden 1753 offers a distinctive introduction to the intense and distinctive style of Hampden Estate Rum.
Following distillation, the Hampden Estate 1753 is matured for 3 years, 100 per cent in ex-bourbon casks, in Jamaica’s tropical climate. Hampden began Lagering rum in tropical conditions directly on the estate in 2010, before official bottlings under its own name were launched in 2018. With an alcohol content of 46 per cent and a 0.7-litre bottle, this 3-year-matured Pure Single Jamaican Rum combines intense pot-still aromas with a comparatively rounded cask-matured character. As part of the core range, the Hampden 1753 HLCF Rum is designed both for drinking neat and for classic and modern rum cocktails, representing Trelawny’s historic connection with powerful, aromatically distinctive Jamaican rums.
Tasting Note
Colour: Deep gold.
Nose: Intense and generous with lush tropical fruits, accompanied by subtle smoky notes and floral and herbal accents.
Palate: Rich and full-bodied with ripe pineapple and banana, complemented by spices, nuts and a fresh, vegetal element.
Finish: Long-lasting and complex with floral and herbaceous nuances, a slightly salty note, and fresh lemon and grapefruit, followed by sweet spices and light fruits.
Hampden Estate 1753 is best enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C to fully appreciate the intense HLCF pot-still aromas. It pairs well with grilled pineapple, caramelised banana, roasted nuts and dark chocolate. Thanks to its pronounced ester and fruit aromas, it is also excellent in a daiquiri, Mai Tai or Planter’s Punch, where the robust character of Jamaican rum can hold its own alongside other ingredients. For tastings, the 1753 is particularly well-suited as an introduction to the distinctive range from Hampden Estate.
