The Bladnoch VINAYA Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 46.7% ABV, comes from the historic Bladnoch Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands, whose history dates back to 1817. The name ‘Vinaya’ comes from Sanskrit and means respect and gratitude – a deliberate tribute to the distillery’s founders and earlier generations who paved the way for today’s production. For the Bladnoch Vinaya Single Malt, distillates from first-fill bourbon casks and first-fill sherry casks are blended together. Whilst the bourbon casks emphasise fresh, floral and fruity notes, the sherry casks contribute additional richness, chocolate notes and a gentle depth. The result is a well-balanced Lowland single malt that combines the region’s characteristic lightness with a pleasantly structured cask influence.


At 46.7% ABV, the Bladnoch Vinaya is aromatically crisp yet full-bodied enough to clearly showcase its fresh and sweet-spicy facets. Green apple, floral meadow herbs and a delicate, sweet, candy-like quality meet chocolate and a subtle hint of pepper, creating a lively and approachable style. The Bladnoch Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is bottled without chill filtration and in its natural colour, ensuring that its texture and cask character remain as unadulterated as possible. The Bladnoch Vinaya is at its best served neat at room temperature or with a few drops of still water. It pairs well with mild hard cheese, roasted almonds or air-dried ham, which complement its floral and spicy notes. Apple tart, shortbread or milk chocolate also complement its fruity-sweet character very harmoniously. In a nosing glass, the apple, grassy and chocolate notes in particular can unfold gradually.
