The Laphroaig 10 Years Old 40% ABV 0.7 l + GB is the iconic classic from the historic Laphroaig Distillery on Islay, which has been renowned for its distinctive peaty style since 1815. This single malt Scotch whisky has achieved cult status over the decades and, like almost no other, epitomises the characteristic intensity and uniqueness of Islay whiskies.


It is made from barley dried over a strong peat fire, which gives the distillate its legendary medicinal, smoky character. The Laphroaig is then matured for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks made of American white oak, which previously held bourbon. In addition to its intense smokiness, this cask maturation imparts subtle notes of vanilla and caramel, as well as spicy woody undertones. With an alcohol content of 40% vol., it is intense, distinctive and yet well-balanced. It is presented here in an elegant gift box (GB), which also makes it a visual highlight for connoisseurs.

Tasting Note

Colour: Bright gold.

Nose: Dominant peaty smoke, medicinal notes, iodine, seaweed, with vanilla and a subtle sweetness.

Palate: Full-bodied, powerful and complex, characterised by intense smokiness, liquorice, oak, vanilla and a salty sea breeze.

Finish: Long-lasting, dry, peaty and spicy.

The Laphroaig 10 Years Old reveals its full character when enjoyed neat in a nosing glass or with a few drops of water, which open up the aromas and emphasise the sweetness. Culinary, it pairs excellently with fresh oysters, smoked salmon, grilled meat or strong blue cheese. It also offers a special tasting experience when contrasted with dark chocolate with a high cocoa content.
